10 Tips for Using Twitter to Fuel Your Job Search: A question (or 3)

June 14, 2009

Keeping the Medis Bistro article references flowing (sorry, what can I say! lol) I just read this piece about Twitter and networking.

Honestly, I’m not one for using Twitter for personal use, my main reasons being:

1.) I’m not sure if I’m that interesting.

2.) I probably wouldn’t make regular updates anyway.

That being said I do have a Twitter account, but I only use it for keeping up with what other journalists are saying and networking purposes. I’ve only logged on a handful of times so far and one “tweet” to say I got ride of my old blog layout for the current one.

Now, for my question (s): Would Twitter fuel a job search simply because it’s a social site, assuring millions of members a.k.a potential employers? If so, why does it seem as though Twitter leads in the “all the rage” category when it comes to the new and/or exciting on the internet (Facebook is another site with “update” capabilities in a substantially professional environment)? Why don’t job sites incorporate more of a social networking-esque flair to their repertoire?

True, I’ve kinda answered bits and pieces of my own questions in the form of my own membership with Twitter. I just find it interesting to hear others’ point of view.
