Thirteen (shudder)

June 15, 2009

I wasn’t expecting this.

Or, maybe I was…I’m not quite sure.

Here is a global list of newspapers with the highest subscriptions/circulation. If you’ve yet to click on the link, Asia, especially Japan, is all over the place and the first American paper listed in 13.

Thirteen?! Redonkulous much?!

Hmm…I admit I’m conclusion-jumping a bit…the first paper listed is The Yomiuri Shimbun, a super-newspaper (my own word), having a circulation including several major cities. It’s also published twice a day.

I wonder why the American journalism world hasn’t heard much about other papers and what they do. Seriously. We have papers like the Boston Globe having long talks about its economic situation, and it makes me wonder how much comparing and/or researching of business models is being done relative to the verbal tennis match going on.
