The BIG Picture – Boston.com

July 27, 2009

I love Boston.com. Specifically the site’s photo section appropriately named The Big Picture. The pictures here are, well, big!

I have nothing against slideshows and enjoy making them (!!!), but I like how the site simply shares the photos with basic HTML “<img>” coding and with more than a description. You can easily take the story told from underneath the photos alone and still be able to accurately tell what’s going on in the photos. The story doesn’t take away from the photos though, only complement them.

The set of photos I’m looking at as I type is that of an Israeli bride, Albino children in Tanzania and Borneo’s “Sea Gypsies.”

Looking at The Big Picture makes me wish my saving up for a new telephoto lens for my Canon muuuch quicker, lol. It also makes me wish I could go over and see everything for myself. As an American it’s amazing what we miss sometimes.
