About Bliss

Well hello there!

My name is Bliss Davis and I am a broadcast/multimedia journalist from northeast Ohio. I am in my last year of school studying journalism at Bowling Green State University. I created this blog to talk about this facet of my life (being a journalist) and issues in the journalistic realm that affect my line of work. I’m not just a blogger claiming to be a journalist, honest! Lol! This is just my outlet. 😀

Moving along…

I currently teach/aid/help the journalism department at a nearby inner city public school. I come from the inner city myself, and I wouldn’t dare pursue my career without first taking others–my students–along with me. It’s a voluntary venture, but their smiles are enough to keep going 🙂 .

I’ve been interested in journalism since about the 7th or 8th grade, a spark that was ignited by a quite fascinating book I read with a journalist as the protagonist (I was and still am a bookworm). Ever since then I’ve been…well, actually, I wasn’t quite hooked, haha! It geared my interests in one direction, but during my last year of high school I began to focus more on pursuing teaching. In fact, I spent my first year at college as a biology/life science education major. However, my first love kept tugging at me and I happily obliged. My interests in the education field never died though, which is why I am a journalism major teaching journalism in a high school.

Not a bad combination, if I do say so myself. 😀

Career wise, I do just about everything…”technically” I am a broadcast journalism major, but my horizons have been officially expanded, lol. A mix of being a writing nerd, book nerd, computer and internet nerd, web design nerd, photography nerd and a host of other branches of nerd-dom is what led me to the field of multimedia/new media. I currently work for PBS and am concentrating on studying for the Praxis II exam so I can earn my teaching license post-graduation next year.

Yep, I stay busy! 🙂

That’s all for now, thank for stopping by. ~ Bliss
